| TBI Bank with record net profit for 2021
The consolidated unaudited financial statements of TBI Bank report a record net profit of EUR 27.5 million for 2021, 39% more than the results for 2020. During the year TBI joined new partners in its BNPL platform (including from new industries) and to date it is present in over 14,000 retail outlets in Bulgaria and Romania. At the same time, the bank quickly adapted to the changing market environment and consumer preferences, which helped its business with end customers and small and medium-sized enterprises to grow above the market average and contribute positively to the overall result. The bank's revenues increased by 24% to EUR 124 million, mainly due to a 14% increase in net interest income and an impressive 70% increase in fee and commission income. This allows the operating profit for 2021 to reach EUR 96 million, or nearly 30% growth compared to 2020. Profit before tax amounted to EUR 34.6 million (50% growth compared to 2020). The increase in the bank's total expenses by 19% to EUR 61 million is mainly due to the accelerated growth of the loan portfolio and investments in new business lines and markets.
