The European Prosecutor's Office is conducting an investigation in Bulgaria into suspicions of declared false data with the reporting and payment of harmful emissions from the activities of the tets in our country. The investigation is against "GMI Verify" EOOD, which since 2019 has been responsible for verifying greenhouse gas emissions from boilers in Bulgaria. The company has been accredited by the Environment Agency since March 2019, a few months after it was established. The suspicions are that the district heating companies reported, and the company certified them, incorrect data on the annual reports on greenhouse gas emissions and declared understated emissions, which led to losses for the EU budget, because the amounts for the greenhouse gas emissions actually consumed were not paid gases.The district heating systems in Gabrovo, Ruse, Sliven, Veliko Tarnovo, Burgas, as well as in the "Brickel" TPP, "Bobov dol" TPP and "Maritsa-3" TPP in Dimitrovgard were checked. Officially, all inspected heating systems are owned by offshore companies - "Gabrovo Heating", for example, is ultimately owned by "Darklet Limited" of Christiana Papademetriou from Cyprus, the one in Rousse is owned by "Cataland Limited" from Great Britain, and for the actual owner under the Law on Measures Against money laundering is named Elizabeth Ulm.
