The Commission for Protection of Competition starts revision in "Toplofikatzia" JSC because of the bills for central heating for December and January. Revisions will also be made in "Zahar Bio" JSC, "Bartex Trading" JSC and "Baker Sugar" JSC.

21 municipal companies will be privatized by Sofia Privatization Agency this year. Expected incomes for 1999 are in the amount of BGL 17 billion. Incomes from sales realized through intermediaries will amount to BGL 12.5 billion. Among the companies subject to privatization are: "Hlebni Izdelia" SPJSC - Lozenetz, "Hlebni Izdelia" JSC - Lyulin, "Hlebni Izdelia" SPJSC -Poduene, "Mebel" SPJSC, "Izdatelstvo Sofia" SPLtd., "Hranitelni Stoki" SPJSC, "Softaxi" SPJSC, "Higiena" SPJSC. "Toplofikatzia Sofia" JSC, "Stolichna Kompania za Gradski Transport" SPJSC, "ViK" SPJSC, "Ozelenyavane" SPJSC and "Lozana" SPJSC will not be privatized this year.

The World Bank will extend USD 100 million financing for two projects on the reconstruction of the heating systems in Bulgaria, the Bank’s representative Mr. Arto Nuorkivi announced. The first project focuses on the reconstruction of the heating facilities in Sofia and Pernik. The preparation of the tender documentation is now in progress; the loan will come into effect March 2000. The second project is on the rehabilitation of the heating networks in Plovdiv, Bourgas, Rousse, Pleven.
