Over BGN 5 million cargoes have passed through the terminals of "Pristanishte Varna" EAD since the beginning of the year, with nearly 1 million tons of the total amount being grain. The growth compared to 2021 is 33%, and for Varna-East it reaches 150%. His warehouses are currently full. Some of them are busy with coal and coke, the volumes of which are growing, but their shipping is slow. Therefore, opportunities are being sought for the expansion of warehouse holdings in three steps - up to one, two and three years. The goal is to expand the capacity by more than 120,000 cubic meters, and the port's cargo turnover by more than 1 million tons. For its implementation, an increase in the number of operating departments, optimization of administrative structures and the purchase of new production equipment are expected.

The rehabilitation of the breakwater in Varna continues The second stage of the repair of the breakwater at the Port of Varna - East is continuing, a Maritime.bg reporter saw. Work continues now, as activities were banned by mayoral order for the duration of the active tourist season. For the rehabilitation of 463 meters of the facility, BGN 14 million was allocated by the State Enterprise "Port Infrastructure". The construction and installation works include the creation of a strengthening and protective berm with tetrapod armor, a layered support stone prism of fractional rock mass, underwater mattresses (gabions) to strengthen the bottom and filling of existing breakwater boxes with rock mass in front of the breakwater.

Bulgaria proposes that the ports in Ruse and Varna be additionally equipped Bulgaria has proposed to the EU projects for the additional development of the ports in Ruse and Varna, in order to increase the possibilities of providing logistical assistance to Ukraine, announced acting Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Hristo Alexiev. An option is being developed for the use of the ferry complex in Varna as well. Since April, the "Bulgarian River Navigation" steamship has helped with the transportation of about 200 thousand tons of grain. The country provides diesel fuel for the needs of farmers in southern Ukraine. Alexiev announced that Bulgaria managed to obtain the necessary support in the Council of the EU for the inclusion of Corridor 8 in the main European transport network. According to him, this is a serious success for our country. The Deputy Prime Minister specified that the corridor is expected to be built by 2035, and today's decision facilitates the financing of projects in Albania and North Macedonia.
