Due to the pandemic: Municipal polyclinics in Varna are making a profit, hospitals are making a loss For the first time in the last three decades, all diagnostic-consultative centers in Varna reported a profit. The good results are mainly due to the additional funding provided by the health fund and the municipality for the COVID-zones and vaccination points. DCC "Chaika" reports a double profit compared to 2020, and DCC "St. Ivan Rilski" for the first time in its history ends the year with a positive financial result. The picture is identical in the other 4 municipal DCCs, in the Medical Center for Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine and in Dental Center I. In contrast, the municipal hospitals ended 2021 at a loss. In the traditionally most profitable Oncology Hospital, this is due to the opening of a COVID-department, and in the AG-hospital - to the suspension of planned admissions and operations for long periods. However, in the first half of this year, both hospitals made up for the losses. Only the Lung Hospital remains in crisis, which is the only one with arrears. All other municipal health care facilities reported revenue growth last year, investments in equipment, but also an increase in salary and insurance costs.

"Gradski Transport" EAD - Varna ends 2024 with a loss of 453 thousand leva. The company's reports show that in 2022 it had a negative financial result of over 2 million leva. A year later, its liabilities decreased to approximately 1.2 million leva. The company receives continuous support from the Varna budget. In March, at an extraordinary meeting, the municipal councilors agreed for it to receive loan financing of three million leva. The amount was allocated specifically - for paying workers' salaries and repaying debts to the National Revenue Agency and suppliers. Among the municipal medical institutions with the best results for 2024 is the specialized hospital for active treatment of oncological diseases. It reports a profit of 747 thousand leva. The specialized hospital for obstetrics and gynecology ends 2024 with a profit of 215 thousand leva. The specialized hospital for active treatment of pneumo-phthisiatric diseases remains in a difficult situation. It ended the year with a loss of 416,000 leva. The hospital has had financial difficulties for years, and the local government periodically seeks state assistance to resolve its problems. The financial condition of the diagnostic and consultative centers (DCCs) in the city remains stable. DCC V and DCC IV ended 2024 with profits of 204,000 and 203,000 leva each. The positive result of DCC "Chaika" was 74,000 leva, and DCC III - 45,000. The Dental and Medical Centers for Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine also ended the year with a profit. DCC "St. Ivan Rilski" in the Asparuhovo region is at a loss. The company's negative balance is 217,000 leva. The loss of the "St. Clementina" Sports and Cultural Center is nearly 125 thousand leva. The Palace of Culture and Sports has the best indicators for last year. The company's profit is 473 thousand leva. "Obredi" EOOD also has stable financial indicators. The company reports a profit of 225 thousand. "Pazari" EAD has an accounting profit of 111 thousand leva, and "Student and Canteen Catering" - with 15,500 leva.
