Solvay Sodi opens one of the largest sodium bicarbonate plants in the world Solvay Sodi, a joint venture between the Belgian scientific company Solvay and the Turkish industrial group Sisecam, presented the results of another large-scale investment project at the Devnya plant. This expansion project increases the plant's capacity to produce soda ash, a derivative of soda ash, by 200,000 tons. The new facility meets the growing global demand for sodium bicarbonate, a basic product used primarily for flue gas cleaning in industrial applications and as an additive in animal feed, among many other applications. With this investment, the Devnya plant, which is the largest soda ash producer in Europe, becomes the second largest sodium bicarbonate plant in Europe and one of the largest in the world.
