Trakia IV association places a BGN 174.7 mln bid for Lot 4 of Trakia motorway Trakia IV association has placed the lowest bid – BGN 174.705 mln, excluding VAT, for the construction of Lot 4 of the Trakia motorway - the section from Yambol to Karnobat. The association includes the companies Holding Roads, Galchev Engineering Group, Road Construction Equipment - Sofia, Road Engineering PLC - Montana, AB JSC - Haskovo, Road Construction - Burgas, Road Construction - Targovishte, Bridge Construction – Sofia and Vida Road Construction PLC. If this bidder is selected to build the motorway, one kilometre of the 47.7-km-long section will cost some BGN 3.6 mln (ˆ1.8 mln), excluding VAT. For comparison, the Greek company Aktor won the tender for the construction of Trakia's Lot 3 with a bid of BGN 3.8 mln/km, and Magistrala Trace demanded BGN 4.4 mln/km for the the section from Stara Zagora to Nova Zagora of the same motorway, while the price foreseen by the contracting authority was about BGN 6 mln. Out of the 13 bids filed for the tender, only 6 were admitted and opened yesterday. The second lowest offer was submitted by the partnership between Bulgaria's Balkanstroy and Macedonia's Granite, which demanded BGN 198.38 mln. Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Rosen Plevneliev added that the procedure for selecting a contractor for Lot 3 had been concluded without an appeal against it. A contract with Aktor is expected to be signed next week.
